How to find the right washbasin for your customers
Are you planning your customers' sanitary facilities and need inspiration for the washbasin area? Discover nine different types of washbasins in this article - because not all washbasins are the same.
Whether in public sanitary areas or in the private bathroom – washbasins are indispensable. In addition to their practical function, they are an essential design element in the bathroom. To increase the design variety in this regard, there are many different washbasin models, each of which offers different advantages:
1. Barrier-free washbasins
Users are placing more and more demands on their bathroom furnishings. Especially with regard to demographic change, barrier-free washbasins continue to gain in importance. As a planner and architect, you should take this into account when equipping the building. It is important that the barrier-free washbasin is accessible underneath. HEWI offers a wide range of different washbasin types that enable accessibility. These are suitable for use in both care as well as in the private bathroom.
2. Washbasins with integrated handles
Washbasins with integrated handles are a prime example of universal design. The recesses in the washbasin material look like towel rails - and, of course, are used as such - but at the same time they act as handles. Grasping options in the washbasin environment are especially important for those with limited strength and mobility. Washbasins with integrated handles have gripping options located on the side or front. In this way, they provide a comfortable grip and offer users valuable support in everyday life.
3. Washbasins with concealed handle edge
These washbasins combine design and functionality thanks to their concealed handle edge. The grip edge in the front area allows wheelchair users to pull themselves up to the washbasin independently. For other users, the under-grip edge provides a secure hold and can be used as a holding, sitting or standing aid if required. This washbasin features a high-gloss, non-porous surface. This is easy to clean, particularly easy to clean and hygienic.
4. Modular washbasin concept
The modular washbasin system is HEWI's answer to demographic change. Especially in terms of architecture and product solutions, innovative concepts are becoming increasingly important. With the modular washbasin system, the washbasin can be supplemented with other products that offer important additional functions. The system allows for the integration of an adaptive grab bar that doubles as a towel rack, as well as a modular storage system directly at the washbasin. This ensures that all bathroom utensils find their place within easy reach.
5. washbasins with storage space
Storage options for soap dispensers or toothbrush cups are often in short supply in bathrooms. Washbasins with integrated storage surfaces provide a remedy for this challenge. The HEWI washbasins with side surfaces and a round basin are also an eye-catcher in the bathroom. The washbasin designs made of mineral casting have a non-porous surface, which is easy to clean and particularly hygienic.
6. Washbasins with or without overflow
Washbasins with overflow are probably the most common type of washbasin. They provide protection against overflowing water when forgetting to stop the flow of water from the faucet. Models from HEWI are available with concealed overflow and a high-gloss chrome-look rosette. If necessary, it is possible to replace and renew the overflow at any time. Washbasin models that do not have an overflowon the other hand, are more hygienic. Since bacteria and dirt accumulate less easily on smooth surfaces without edges and holes, these washbasins offer a plus in hygiene, especially in maintenance.
7. Washbasins with surge edge
Washbasins with a surge edge to the wall offer mainly hygienic advantages. The washbasin design is such that water, dirt or bacteria do not collect at the joint with the wall. In addition, the surge edge protects the wall behind it from water, preventing moisture and mold. Selected washbasin designs from HEWI have this function.
8. Variable length washbasins
The variable-length washbasins offer extended design diversity. These washbasin models are selectable with variable width from 85 cm up to 280 cm according to the needs of your customers. These variable-length washbasins are also made of mineral casting and have a non-porous surface. This makes them particularly hygienic and easy to maintain.
9. Double and row washbasins
Types of washbasins with two or more washing places next to each other provide space for several users at the same time. The double and row washbasins from HEWI are designed for use in kindergartens, daycare centers and schools. With their cheerful colors, they invite people to wash their hands and support playful engagement with the element of water. The built-in height and depth gradation adapts perfectly to the children's anatomy. Rounded corners and edges protect against bumps and help to ensure that the fittings are easy to reach, even for small users. The washbasins have a non-porous, easy-care and hygienic surface. Even acrylic and finger paints can be removed without leaving any residue.
