HEWI wins two Universal Design Awards 2024
HEWI’s motorized tilting mirror became a two-time “Winner” of the Universal Design Award 2024: It received both the Expert Award and the Consumer Award. The solution not only won over the expert jury headed by Prof. Wolfgang Sattler, but also around 100 visitors to the Hephata Festtage, who cast their votes as part of the consumer jury.

As an expert in barrierfree sanitary solutions, HEWI has an extraordinary flair for products that make everyday life easier and more comfortable. The motorized tilting mirror adds an innovative solution with an electric motor to the existing product range. The tilt function can now be controlled smoothly and conveniently using a battery-free and maintenance-free wireless wall switch. A clear gain in comfort for users - whether sitting or standing. With its high-quality and linear design, it fits seamlessly into all HEWI sanitary ranges and systems and enables independent use for people of all ages and abilities.
Excellent design for a diverse society - the Universal Design Award
For 15 years, the Universal Design Award has been presented to products, services and architectures that impress with their cross-generational, simple and intuitive usability. The aim of the award is to recognize solutions that enable access, self-determination and participation.
A special feature of this competition is that, in addition to the expert jury, a consumer jury also decides on the award. The consumer jury consists of around 100 participants aged between 14 and 90, who independently award the "Universal Design Consumer" label. In contrast to other competitions, the submitted products are not only exhibited, but can also be presented to the jury in detail - either live or online.
The award-winning products will be presented as part of the "Exhibition of Award Winners" at the munich creative business week from May 10 to 18, 2025 held at the Oskar von Miller Forum in Munich.
